The 10 kHz Pinger was designed to alert Dolphins and Porpoises to the presence of commercial fishing equipment. The Pinger specifications meet both the European Union 812/2004 mandate and the USA NMFS (National Marine Fisheries Service) HPTRP regulations.
Extensive scientific research undertaken over the past fifteen years shows that the use of 10 kHz Pingers reduces cetacean bycatch in commercial gill net fisheries by an average of 80% to 95% depending on species.
